Hola amigos! It`s been a long time since my last post, we have been so busy with new and old customers, friends and new adventures that has been difficult to post regularly. But… my post is here, and today I will write about our Guadalajara overnight tour.
First I want to thank Superior Tours for all the help to make this possible. My girlfriend Vickie and myself took 11 friends with us,mostly from Quebec, Montreal, and other places in Canada on this marvelous adventure to La Magdalena, Tlaquepaque,
Guadalajara,Ajijic, Chapala, Guachimontones and Tequila Jalisco! Here is my report:

Guadalajara overnight tour

 Day 1

Our adventure started 7:15am at Vip`s restaurant located in-front of the Maritime terminal, where a Mercedes Benz A/C Bus picked us up. Our bilingual tour guide Daniel and our bus driver welcomed us graciously and courteous. then picked up other people at Nuevo Vallarta and our Journey begun!

We drove by Sayulita, San Pancho, Guayabitos, La Peñita de Jaltemba and then took the highway all the way to Compostela where we took a 15 min break to use the bathroom, buy coffee and snacks.

After our break, we continued to La Magdalena, very famous for the opal mines! We stop at a store to check the opals and then walked the town. After La Magdalena, we headed to Tlaquepaque through Guadalajara city! In Tlaquepaque there are so many art galleries and shopping to do! I recommend to bring Mexican pesos. You will have time to lunch and drink tequila!
My recommendation is to have lunch at “El Parian” You can enjoy a Female Mariachi show! But there are other great places that your guide will recommend as well.

After our visit to Tlaquepaque, we headed to Hour Hotel, located at the heart of Guadalajara. Comfortable, clean and well located!
We took a shower and went out for dinner. There are many options near the hotel, We chose “La fonda de San Miguel Arcangel.”
This place used to be a  Catholic Carmelite Convent back in the 1800’s and there are a lot of stories and legends about it… If you have the courage to go to the second floor you might see a ghost or two!  Great place, dinner so so.But is very close to the hotel. Other people went to “Santo Coyote” and said that it was great! I will have to try it next time!

Day 2

After a night of well deserved rest, woke up 7:00 am to have breakfast at the hotel (included), a nice buffet by the way. Eggs, bacon, pancakes, chilaquiles, fruits, coffee, tea, milk, orange juice, and other options.

Our group was divided in 2 as some were speaking French and some English. Our walking tour started 9:00am from the Hotel.
Walked downtown and visited great historical places!

After our walk through Guadalajara’s downtown, our bus picked us up to start our journey to Ajijic and Chapala! around 45 minute ride.
Let me tell you that Ajijic was my favorite town! It is the Number 1 destination for retirement in Mexico! Everything is written in Spanish and English!  Beautiful little town with breathtaking views, places to eat and relax!  Weather is phenomenal all your around! Time for a drink too!

 Day 3

Last day in our adventure! Breakfast 7:30am and at 8:30am we were ready to leave our hotel and head to Guachimontones.
Guachimontones is an archaeological site famous for the round pyramids. Beutiful place! A native guide will escort you through this interesting site and your guide will do the translation. I don’t want to tell you more about this visit cause I want you to be surprised!  But if you want to know more about this place, please visit this link to Wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guachimontones

After Guachimontones, we headed to Tequila town declared as one of the “Magic Villages of Mexico”. Here you have time to have lunch before you head back to Vallarta.

We got back to Puerto Vallarta 8:00pm, here are my recommendations for Guadalajara overnight tour:

-Bring a sweater or jacket for early mornings and evenings
-Bring water and if you like… beer on the bus!
-While walking Guadalajara`s downtown, don´t wear fancy clothing or jewelry.
-Hotel has safe boxes included.
-Bring Mexican pesos from Puerto Vallarta as is difficult to find a place in Guadalajara.
-Try to use the bathrooms before getting in the bus and use only bus bathroom as an emergency only. Everybody will appreciate it! :)
-Comfortable shoes and shorts are perfect for everyday walk as weather in Guadalajara , Ajijic and Chapala is great!
-For your last day, you might better wear long pants or jeans as Guachimontones might be cooler than the rest of the places you will visit.
-Tips are not included during your tour, Driver and Guide will appreciate it!

I hope you enjoyed my post, we had a great time, made a lot of friends and came back with unforgettable memories! Thanks again to Superior tours for such a great adventure and support and thanks to all our friends that joined Vickie and me in this memorable tour!
See you soon with another great adventure!
Until then…

Your friend in P.V.
